Who we are - Our Trustees

Arthur has vast knowledge and experience in the retail sector. Now retired, much of his career was centred around financial and administration systems and procedures.

He worked as an internal auditor for a high street retail group in the tailoring trade, carrying out audits throughout the UK, then continued as a training office.

He was an also an internal auditor for an international blue chip company in the vending trade carrying out audits throughout the UK.  He has experience as a commercial administrator for an international firm of consulting engineers.

Arthur and his wife have been foster carers for 18 years and he has extensive knowledge of safeguarding and the relative procedures.

He has many years experience in pastoral work and counselling both to groups and individuals, previously serving as a board member for a charity helping young people.  Arthur is purpose driven and has a real desire to see people reach their full potential.

Allan Hargreaves

Allan initially trained for Ministry in the Church of England. He then joined the Inland Revenue where he was assigned to their Training Centre and taught personal tax before completing a tour of duty as Chief Inspector of Taxes (Claims) Branch Charity Division, specialising in the taxation of exempt bodies. He was the Inspector in charge of liaison with the Charity Commission and the Registrar of Friendly Societies, The Capital Taxes Office and Registrar of Trades Unions.

On leaving the Inland Revenue, Allan joined Peat Marwick Mitchell, (KPMG), becoming National Director of Charity Taxation. He then joined Coopers and Lybrand, followed by Binder Hamlyn’s charity unit in London to formulate the charity tax department. Currently a director of OMNIS TAX Consultancy Ltd, Allan is responsible for the charity advice, tax and VAT practice of the OMNIS group of firms and advises a number of charity clients that are household names, as well as small local charities. He mounts training sessions for trustees and senior charity staff members.

John has worked within Health and Safety whilst employed by the Health & Safety Executive supporting HM Inspectors with public liaison, relevant literature and other resources. Having previously gained a NEBOSH certificate in Occupational Safety and Health and served as a Health and Safety Officer in another company, he had a good base of skills to function within the dept accompanying inspectors on site visits to assess health and safety breaches within work places.

 

He has served as the Vice-chair for a charitable organisation providing health support to residents of a deprived housing estate in South Bristol helping employed staff with funding applications, setting up new projects, setting budgets and reviewing policies. Projects included helping victims of domestic abuse, health support for the elderly and immobile and giving culinary skills to local people in our community kitchen.

He has served as a school governor for a SEBD school catering for the needs of some of the most challenging pupils from the local catchment drawing on his health and safety experience to assist with site inspections, risk assessments and support to the head and the senior management team which included a visit from OFSTED.

Since 2018 he has served as an elected councillor within Whitchurch Village Council.

football teams and become a highly respected youth coach and mentor in the North East.  Trevor is passionate about equality and equal rights, which let him to be an ambassador for Show Racism the Red Card. Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) is the UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity. It was established in January 1996. To this day SRtRC continues to utilise the high-profile status of football and football players to help tackle racism in society and has also expanded into other sports. The majority of the campaign’s work involves the delivery of educational workshops to young people and adults in schools, workplaces and at events held in football stadiums. Across the UK, SRtRC provides educational sessions to more than 50,000 individuals per year.

Trevor and his wife currently run a successful property maintenance company, working with several of the UK’s leading commercial landlords. Trevor’s sons all play football and he enjoys watching them play for their current teams in his spare time.

Trevor experienced life to its full as a professional footballer from the age of 16, playing at the highest level in England and receiving caps for both Jamaica and England.  Having represented 29 teams in his career, and making over 350 appearances in The Football League between 1995 and 2008. After his playing career ended, Trevor has continued to manage several
